Urukundo Rwacu
Urukundo Rwacu ('Our Love' in Kinyabwhisha) is a couples-based counseling intervention designed to improve postpartum family planning concordance among African refugee couples in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, Uganda.
The program integrates male engagement, dyadic theory, and structured communication skill-building to foster equitable decision-making around contraception, birth preparedness, financial planning, and gender norms.
Co-designed with refugee couples, religious leaders, and healthcare providers, the intervention strengthens relationship quality and shared responsibility so that family planning decisions are informed, mutual, and supportive of women’s reproductive autonomy.
